Getting Tired of the Whole Darn Thing

I have 16 blogs. Not all of them are, technically, blog sites. Some I use as an easy way to put up a static web site. And some I, simply, don't use anymore and have let the domain names lapse.

Which leaves me about 6 which really should be updated on a regular basis. Do they? Not a chance. I sit at my computer, sometimes, and just draw a blank. Or I'm busy updating my gift blog and then have no desire to update any of the others.

I still haven't finished the Iceland posts for my travel blog and that trip was finished end of July. Would love to get it done by the end of the year.

So what else gets in my way? Let's see.....craft shows that I do with my daughter....which this year have been working well for her but not for me. Thank goodness only one left.

Of course Thanksgiving with family arriving. I have to clean up all my 'stuff' which is spread out over the guest beds and the floors. So that also puts a hold on other things I do and then I get behind on that and get overwhelmed when I have to play catchup.

Of course if I made $1000s blogging like some bloggers, I'd probably have more of an incentive to keep writing. Heck....I'd be happy with just $10s.

I can't wait for January to get here!

Basic Stock Market 101

Normally I don't promote ClickBank products on any of my sites. Yes, some are very good products but I find it hard to separate the wheat from the chaff.

However, yesterday, I came across a ClickBank product that is strictly educational. No promises about getting rich quick, being able to quit your day job and stuff like that.

This e-book was written with the very new stock market investor in mind. It is called Stock Market Sherpa and I was fortunate to receive a review copy.

Stock Market Sherpa is strictly educational. There are no promises about getting rich quick. There is no stock market advice. It is written with the stock market novice in mind....someone who wants to start investing but hasn't a clue where to start.

In spite of the many ups and downs of the stock market, the fact is that, long term, the stock market still gives the best rate of return on money. If you have 20, 30 or even 40 years to retirement, tucking your savings away in a savings account paying 1% is not the smart way to go.

But what do you do if you know NOTHING about stock market investing? Now there is an easy answer to that question. You get a copy of Stock Market Sherpa

In very easy to understand text, stock market terms are explained. Clear graphs and charts provide excellent examples. The e-book is a great first step for the new investor. If you've ever thought about investing in the stock market but were afraid to ask, this book is for you.

The leak is fixed

No, the Friday night job didn't do it. It continued to leak, although slowly. Two rolled up towels under the toilet managed to handle it, although they were pretty wet by Saturday morning.

Since we were having company on Saturday I requested my husband hold off on trying another repair and he agreed.

So Sunday morning it was a trip down to Home Depot. With a new $3.50 part, my husband did manage to get the leaky toilet fixed.

I have to admit I admire his perseverance. I would have just called a plumber.

Leaky Toilets and Men!

OK, so we've got a leaky toilet.

Sitting at dinner tonight I happened to look up at the ceiling and there were a couple of stains I didn't remember seeing before. I got a chair to climb onto to feel the ceiling and, yup, the stains were wet.

A bunch of days ago my husband had changed some of the toilet tank plumbing. We both thought things were going well. Guess not. I ran upstairs and found a wet floor around the toilet. Nothing major. I put a towel down and knew that would take care of things for a while.

For a while like until tomorrow...but, no, my husband HAD to take the thing apart tonight, which means shutting the house water. Can't wait for tomorrow? So if he needs a part he can get to the hardware store? Nope. It's got to be done tonight.

Well...a couple of false starts (like me running down to the basement to turn the water off again), but it looks like maybe it's OK.

Better be. Law and Order starts in 20 minutes.

Diamond Necklaces

Well, my 40th wedding anniversary came and went. I was hoping for a special gift. Did get one that was perfect for an anniversary. We took a (relatively) last minute trip to Iceland which I am writing about in my travel blog.

But now my birthday is coming up. Over the years we have evolved to the point where we no longer give each other gifts for special occasions. Cards, yes but no presents. And yet, I wonder if this year will be different? Like maybe I need to show an interest in diamond necklaces.

Looking For Unique Items

I recently went to a wedding where the bride and groom got very unique wedding favors from an Internet site.

It used to be hard looking for something unusual. Took a lot of time and energy running around town from store to store. Now our fingertips do the work for us. While the Yellow Pages have certainly been phased out, their catchphrase of 'letting your fingers do the walking' seems to have more meaning today than every before.

Who would have thought?

Ft. Hood

Sympathies to the families of those killed. Hopes and prayers to the families of those wounded.

What a horror!
